This week's Walktober Walking Tip

ree

Welcome to Week 2 of Walktober!

We hope you enjoyed getting your steps in last week. Were you able to get to 7500 steps each day or most days? If not, there's still time to increase your steps.

This week's Walktober tip is making walking more fun!

Here’s some ideas:

  • If you have a pet, try a new route with your pet. If you don’t have a pet consider adopting a pet from the local animal shelter, October is also Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

  • Try a new trail or route. We are so fortunate to have Sligo Creek Trail and Rock Trail within walking distance.

  • Create a scavenger hunt on your walk. There are lots of fun ideas on Pinterest.

  • If a scavenger hunt is too complicated keep it simple by playing a counting game. One example is counting the number of pumpkins you see on your walk. First one to 20 wins. This means you also have to walk long enough to see at least twenty pumpkins =)!

Stay tuned next week’s for a new Walktober tip. In the meantime join the East Silver Spring Elementary PTA Facebook Group to share your walking experiences and find links to Maryland Walktober events!

Happy Walking!
