Programs

The ESS Panda Clubs are after-school enrichment programs sponsored by the ESS PTA. Panda Club offers after-school activities in three sessions during the school year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Clubs include everything from karate to journalism to art, sports, drama, Spanish, and more!
Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
Each year at ESS we have two sessions of Girls on the Run (GOTR) - one in the Fall and one in the Winter/Spring. We meet during the week, two days per week, from 7:30 am to 9:05 am. This year, we will meet on Monday and Friday mornings. We work to prepare to run a 5K which is held in November in Bethesda.

Through National PTA's 50+ year-old Reflections program each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

This year, East Silver Spring Elementary School will participate in this historic program. The 2022–2023 Reflections theme is Show Your Voice!

East Silver Spring Elementary School PTA’s support of book fairs and Reading Night is a much cherished tradition. As part of the national PTA Family Reading Experience, we believe all children need to see themselves reflected in the stories they read.

National PTA's STEM + Families® program delivers access and hands-on exposure to science, technology, engineering and math to engage families and inspire students to pursue career opportunities in STEM fields.

East Silver Spring Elementary School PTA’s longtime and ongoing support of our school’s STEM Fair and Math Night is part of the broader mission to ensure that all students have the support needed to access and pursue STEM opportunities and careers.
The national PTA School of Excellence program is a program that helps give schools and PTAs a framework to unite behind a common goal, work together on programming efforts, improve reach among diverse communities, poll for feedback, use that feedback to make improvements, and track success.
Participating schools often see results in improvement in the areas they choose to target, net positive recognition within their school systems, and, potentially, additional funds as an incentive for their schools.
