What are Panda Clubs?

1-hour (4-5pm) after-school enrichment programs run by community organizations at ESS.

Classes run 7-8 weeks. Price and start dates are noted in the class description.

Please consider making a donation to the Panda Club Scholarship Fund. We are proud that in the past we have been able to provide a scholarship to every family who requested one. WINTER 2025 CLUBS
GRADE K-2
Monday
Exploring Great Artists! (Create Arts, $138). Starts 1/13. Step into the vibrant world of art brought to you by CREATE Arts Center, designed to ignite young imaginations and cultivate budding talents! Hands-on activities including painting, drawing, building, sculpting, and more. Students embark on an exhilarating journey through art and art history. Led by a skilled instructor, our sessions not only introduce youngsters to new techniques, materials, and famous artists but also provide a nurturing space for them to express themselves creatively and fearlessly. Unleash creativity, explore endless possibilities, and discover the joy of self-expression in a supportive and engaging environment!

Tuesday
Destination Imagination (Round House, $150). Starts 1/14. Each week students encounter a new and exciting location—from Outer Space to Antarctica—using their imaginations! Explore a variety of cultures and experiences, while introducing the fundamentals of theater through drama, movement, and visual arts/design. Creative and fun activities promote confidence, self-esteem, and creative expression while working on skills such as active listening, teamwork, and sharing.

Basketball (1-Up Handles, $80). Starts 1/14. *Grades 2-5 Panda Club Basketball will be an exciting, engaging class that teaches beginner to intermediate fundamentals such as: dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and court awareness. Participants will be grouped by grade and play mini games each class to reinforce skills and enhance learning.

Wednesday
Beginner Spanish (Big Learning, $115). Starts 1/15. Let’s speak Spanish! Children will build practical Spanish language skills in a fun, informal, language immersion setting. Join us for songs, games, and hands-on activities as we begin to learn and practice speaking Spanish with friends. This class is appropriate for new and continuing students grades K-2.

Thursday
Afro-Caribbean Dance (Karib Dance, $150). starts 1/16. This youth dance program introduces students to the rich cultures of Africa and the Diaspora through movement and storytelling. Each session encourages students to explore heritage, creativity, and self-expression in a welcoming environment. Designed to build appreciation and understanding, our classes foster a connection to culture while nurturing a sense of community and joy.

Soccer (1-Up-Handles $80) Starts 1/17
Panda Club Soccer will be an upbeat, fun class that teaches beginner to intermediate fundamentals such as: proper Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, Defensive Strategy and Field Spacing. Participants will be separated by grade & play mini games each class to enhance learning.

Rockets, Rovers, and Roller Coasters (Big Learning, $115). Starts 1/15. Explore architecture and engineering!! Construct, build, and propel through this hands-on STEM adventure! Explore roller coaster design and bridge construction by making your own to demonstrate Newton’s laws of motion, forces, and energy! You will be making models and testing their strength and accuracy including a launching catapult, balloon car, hovercraft, geodesic dome, tower, and air powered rocket!

PANDA CLUBS RULES

Student Cancellations/Refunds: All refunds will be made via the vendor. There will be no refunds offered after the first week of programs.

Frequent (two times) late pick-ups will result in dismissal from the program without a refund. Vendors may charge a fee for late pickup.

Student Behavior: In order to keep our club fun and safe for everyone, all students are expected to follow ESS school rules while attending PANDA CLUB after school enrichment classes. Parents will be contacted each time there is a behavioral problem that cannot be remedied in the class. East Silver Spring PTA reserves the right to remove your student from a program.

Provider Cancellations: While the vendors will make every effort to reschedule classes canceled due to unexpected MCPS or ESS closings, we cannot guarantee that every class can be made up. The vendors cannot offer make-up classes or refunds due to a student’s inability to attend class.
